Every big sporting event, our man Will gives us his predictions for the contest. This year’s NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivsion (just go back to I-A and I-AA already) Football Playoff Championship Game is no different. While these may not be what you go in the game watching for, they will be when you finish reading.
Wills CFP Insights
1. ESPN will turn a 6:30 p.m. kick into a 6:50 p.m. kick.
2. Fernando Mendoza’s LinkedIn will get more action on in one drive than mine has in six years.
3. O/U -6.5 on Mendoza LinkedIn mentions.
4. Micheal Irvin doesn’t blink the entire first half.
5. ESPN will compare this Indiana team to the ‘01 Miami team at some point in the first quarter.
6. ESPN will tell us that the transfer portal isn’tkilling football when one team has 64% of their starters from the transfer portal (14/22, and Mark Cuban is slinging a check to make sure they continue this trend).
7. ESPN will force Notre Dane into the conversation no less than three times tonight and tell us that a playoff that’s already overcrowded needs more spots.
8. At some point during the third quarter, there will be a bang-bang play and the Broncos-Bills interception (it was a pick, sorry) will get mentioned.
9. There will be at least five people in the crowd wearing Dolphins jerseys who are just there to a see a team win a playoff game for the first time in more than 20 years.
10. Kirk Herbstreit will tell us that these playoffs have been just as good as the NFL (outside of the two Ole Miss games they haven’t).
11. We might see the first ever field rush from someone on the sidelines. (JordoVegas odds say Michael Irvin at 3/1.)
